Metal injection molding (MIM) is an advanced manufacturing process that involves mixing metal powder with a polymer, injecting the mixture into a mold under high pressure, and then sintering it to form a shape. It is characterized by high precision and high efficiency.

Working principle of metal injection molding powder
Metal Injection Molding (MIM) works by mixing metal powder and a polymer in a certain ratio. The mixture is heated until it softens but does not melt, then injected into the MIM machine's injector. The injector then injects the mixture into a mold, where the cavity's contour precisely shapes the desired part.
Inside the mold, after injection, the mixture undergoes several processes including demolding, debinding, presintering, and sintering to finally form a dense metal part. The binder burns away during presintering, and the metal particles undergo diffusion bonding, resulting in parts with excellent mechanical properties and dimensional stability.
Metal Injection Molding can achieve mass production of complex parts, typically used for producing precise structures, high-density, high-strength, and highly wear-resistant metal parts. This process can, to some extent, replace traditional manufacturing processes, reducing costs and shortening production cycles. Therefore, it has wide applications in automotive, medical devices, aerospace, and other fields.
In summary, Metal Injection Molding combines the advantages of metal powder metallurgy and plastic molding technologies. It is an efficient and precise manufacturing process, providing an innovative solution for parts production across various industries.
